Casper the Ghost won the hip-hop award at the Jack Robinson awards recently.

 

Casper is a regular on the local hip hop circuit and performed at the inaugural Afrofesta, the African Caribbean Canadian festival last year.

 

Another winner was Alfredo Caxaj, founder and artistic director of one of London’s biggest summer festivals, Sunfest. Caxaj won in the Contributor category.

 

The Jack Richardson Music Awards, were started in 2005, and are named after the legendary London producer and music teacher .


Richardson has produced such acts as The Guess Who and Alice Cooper. He was also a professor in the Music Industry Arts (MIA) program at Fanshawe College until he retired from teaching in 2007.

 

The grassroots-based Jack Richardson Music Awards honour London’s vast musical talent. This year’s event was held at the Music Hall.

 

Winners included Foxtail (Bluegrass), Tim Woodcock (Blues), Classical Karen Schuessler Singers (Choir/Choral Group), Yuri Pool (Fan Favourite), Paul Stevenson (Jazz), London Music Club (Live Venue), and Matadors (Punk).
